Join the first Professors in the Pub series featuring Dr. Alicia Gaspar de Alba, chair of the UCLA LGBTQ Studies Program and Professor of Chicana/o Studies, English, and Gender Studies.

Dr. Gaspar de Alba will be hosting a poetry reading lineup as part of the LAMBDA LitFest and will be performing alongside Claudia Rodriguez and Richard Villegas, both graduates of the Bilingual Creating Writing class at UCLA. The first cohort of its kind.

The Black Cat is a 21 and over establishment. This Los Angeles declared Historic-Cultural Monument served as a gathering place for the LGBT community to protest against unfair treatment and demand equal rights in the aftermath of the LAPD infiltration that took place on the night of New Year’s Day 1967.

Professors in the Pub seeks to create opportunities for alumni to engage with UCLA faculty for a series of pop up lectures at various venues in the LA area. These informal lectures focus on the current and past faculty research projects highlighting their work supporting diverse issues and communities.
