We are inviting you and your family and friends to an event celebrating and promoting peacemaking and peacebuilding being held at the catalytic and history-making Holman United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 25, 2017, beginning at 6 pm. Entitled “Ceeds of Peace: Something Inside So Strong…”, the event’s special guest keynote speaker is Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, co-founder of acclaimed peacebuilding non-profit, Ceeds of Peace and the Director of the University of Hawaii's Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution. She is also the sister of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. It will be an inspirational event with special guests, moving music performances and the powerful words of Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng.
This event is the 4th annual benefit on behalf of the Justin Carr Wants World Peace Foundation established in memory of Harvard-Westlake athletic and academic standout, Justin Carr, who died from an undetected heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), in 2013 at sixteen, while at his swim team practice (as covered in an Emmy-winning news story on CBS2). The Justin Carr Wants World Peace Foundation (JCWWP) is so named because of a prayer for peace Justin said since he was four.
